The ACSA held the event at the Hilton Bayfront Hotel. Dr. Kimberly Wright, Director of Health Services, and Dr. Regina Tillman, Director of Community Schools, represented the Palmdale School District. Both were nominated for awards at the local and regional levels. They won at the state level, showing how well they do their jobs.

Dr. Raul Maldonado has been named Superintendent of the Year 2025 by the California Association of Latino Superintendents and Administrators (CALSA). Dr. Raul Maldonado has been the Palmdale School District Superintendent for nearly 12 years.

🎉2025 California Teachers of the Year
Matthew Winheim, a middle school STEM Aviation and Mathematics teacher at Space Aeronautics Gateway to Exploration Magnet Academy in the Palmdale Unified School District (Los Angeles County).
Superintendent Thurmond nominated Winheim as California’s representative for the National Teacher of the Year competition. Winheim will compete against other state nominees, and the 2025 National Teacher of the Year will be announced in the spring.
